Alateen Foundation (AF), through its network of the invaluable ‘Field Volunteers’ does the ground work of scouting for deserving (needy) children in Government Schools. Another ‘Field Volunteer’ in the same area verifies the submissions. Then an Educators Panel evaluates the application and if recommended, the AF Board allocates a scholarship based on budgets and participation by the school concerned.
AF does not accept monetary contributions. It is a Foundation and not a Trust. However, monetary contributors are welcome to directly support students who are scouted by AF Field Volunteers and verified by other Volunteers. The fees would go directly to the school. Support for other things like uniforms, books, sports kits, etc would go directly to the student/guardian with whom the contributor needs to maintain direct contact. AF is a platform, not an administrator, offering a place for matching contributors with needy students. Contributors are advised to satisfy themselves about their donee and their needs. AF Volunteers can only help the Donor where they can. AF accepts no responsibility for the Donor – Donee transactions. This can happen only if you are a registered Volunteer.
AF welcomes donations in kind.
Unless donations in kind are to Schools, when AF will coordinate through its Field Volunteers, For Individual donees, donations in kind are to be made directly once the Donor and Donee are connected in the platform.

AF has a Volunteer WhatsApp group for internal discussions. Once accepted as a Volunteer, you’ll automatically be eligible to join that group. The Volunteer group is a vibrant community. Naturally “outside issues” are not permitted.
Yes, of course. Provided (a) the student is in the STDs we are currently supporting (b) student is from a BPL family (c) you’ll steer the process of supporting the child and (d) you are a registered volunteer.
AF welcomes all seniors as well as qualified teachers to volunteer. Slotting teaching assignments is available only at schools that have been on boarded at AF. In these schools, the need they express is put out to Teaching Volunteers to take on. Coordination between teachers is done in the back end, and in their dedicated WhatsApp group. There are 9 planned stages. AF is presently at Stage 1. As we progress, there will be increasing automation and ease of participation for Volunteers, Adoption of Students for studies, direct payments to Schools, etc. Student performance reports from schools, etc.
There is no set tenure!
As long as you can actually contribute and wish to do so. However, it would be irresponsible to abandon any specific activity you have undertaken midway.
Ofcourse, you can always organize a replacement if possible. Medical emergencies are a fact of life and volunteering may be suspended or ended as the case may be.
Not at all. The founders are preparing a platform that will serve everyone who subscribes to the stated Mission and is enrolled in the stated Vision.
This platform offers the opportunity to drive the Mission in your own respective geographical area in India.
The grants by AF will be the exclusive decision of the Founders.
That does not stop others from taking on that responsibility in their areas, using this platform, as individuals or other entities.
The founders have funded the entire cost of building this platform. Obviously they own the Intellectual property rights and the copyrights therein.
